3 Elements of Good Blog Design

Posted on December 22, 2012 by Blog Design Journal

For millions of people blogging is something that is used for marketing purposes. If you’re looking at marketing your website or promotional pages, you will need to make sure that you get a good blog design option. Design has to have several elements to be successful, and without them, you won’t see major strides forward. If you’re a novice, or just not sure how to move forward with programming design work then consider the following 3 elements of good design to look into when selecting a theme for your blog.

Header – Look for a header that can be changed out and complete redesigned. If you don’t have this option, you won’t be able to personalize your website at all. You want to make sure that your header says something about you and your business. Without interchangeable options, you will be stuck with some rudimentary design that won’t promote your pages or your options easily.

Sidebar – If you want to advertise different things on your site, you will need to ensure that you have a good sidebar with custom widths. Adding text ads, banner ads, or even buttons will require some code implementation in the sidebar. You can tell good blog design often has a proper sidebar to balance out the structure of a page and tie together all content.

Comment Section – The last thing you should look for when looking at good design is the comment section. A page should have a clearly defined area to leave a comment, so that people can interact with you and make sure that your thoughts aren’t staying still. Comment sections are one of the best ways to get people interested in whatever it is your trying to promote.

One final thing to look for aside from the above standards is implementation and installation. Any good blog design will be easy to add to a page. Whether you’re using a new content management system, or an existing one, you’ll need to make sure that you can update it and customize it without having a lot of programming skills. If you’re not a designer or a web programmer, then making sure that you can edit the template will ensure proper workflow and create long lasting promotional elements. Don’t just settle for any old template, make sure that you’re investing some time and effort in finding an identity that fits your site’s theme with ease. Without proper consideration, you will miss out on the glory of having a well designed, well promoted blog.
