Posted on June 02, 2011 by Blog Design Journal

John asks…

how do i make all the text on my tumblr lowercase?

i used to have a code in my theme to blanket change all text to lowercase, but i lost it when i changed over.

Blog Design Journal answers:

Better if you asked your Tumblr question here:

http://laupers.tumblr.com/

Or, use the CSS property:

text-transform: lowercase;

Joseph asks…

How can i center my tumblr blog while keeping text aligned to the left?

I am currently using this theme:

http://safe.tumblr.com/theme/preview/11862

is there any code i can use so that i can center my blog while keeping the text aligned to the left?an example is like this:

http://arcturustheme.tumblr.com/

and please don’t tell me to get a new theme. I’d only be asking this because i want to keep my current one, it just needs some tweaks
@Colanth- as i said before, i don’t want a new theme. i simply want to center my posts the same way as show in “http://arcturustheme.tumblr.com/”

Blog Design Journal answers:

Find the CSS that is for the overall container and use the following techniques:

Centering anything requires setting a width less than 100% for the container. Example:

body {
width: 90%;
height: 600px; /* optional */
margin: 0 auto;
background: #fff url(path to non-tiled image) no-repeat center scroll;
}

Example as a Class:

.selector_name {
width: 90%;
height: 600px; /* optional */
margin: 0 auto;
background: #fff url(path to non-tiled image) no-repeat center scroll;
}

Example as an ID:

#selector_name {
width: 90%;
height: 600px; /* optional */
margin: 0 auto;
background: #fff url(path to non-tiled image) no-repeat center scroll;
}

Change parameters as you need. Set “#fff” to background color you want. Set “scroll” to “fixed” if you want page contents to scroll over background image. CSS was given for an image that does not tile. Doesn’t have to be the body tag, but you should get the idea.

Mandy asks…

How can I correct this error in the CSS coding for my Tumblr?

This is my Tumblr:

http://wulfruna.tumblr.com/

The problem I’ve been having is the big space between posts and the reblog caption below. It looks as if there are four line breaks and I’d prefer just one. Also, how can I remove the reblogger’s avatar from that text? Any help really really appreciated!
Thanks Colanth but it already appears to have that in it.

Blog Design Journal answers:

If the CSS already has the spacing needed, then the break in the following may not be needed:

I really do not see much in the CSS for that unless there’s too much padding in places:

.post-footer p.reblogged {
font: 12px Verdana, “Helvetica Neue”, “Lucida Grande”, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;
color: #d4b043;
padding:5px 0;
}

.post-footer p.reblogged a {
text-decoration: none;
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-position: center left;
padding: 2px 0 2px 18px;
}

What Reblog Avatar are you talking about? Don’t see one.
